What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the state of being conscious or aware of the present. When you are mindful, you realize that you are not your thoughts, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance, without judging them as good or evil. You don’t think of the past or the future; you live with your present thoughts, feelings, and sensations -neither grasping nor pushing them away. Instead of letting your life go without living it, you awaken to the experience.
You just savor the moment.
Every moment of every day can be used as a setting to practice mindfulness. You don’t need to go out of the country for an expensive retreat because mindfulness can be applied even in mundane tasks like cooking, cleaning, driving, eating, etc.
When used as a therapeutic technique to manage stress, mindfulness can be very effective as it can powerfully banish negativistic thoughts caused by dwelling over past mistakes and apprehensions of forthcoming events.
